Witnesses say nobody was injured after a car jumped a curb and struck a fence on White Rock's promenade Tuesday afternoon.
Robert Grant, who arrived to the scene a few minutes after the incident, said he saw two senior women inside the car and both appeared to be OK.
"Thank goodness no one was hit, the fence stood up to the impact and a train was not coming," Grant said in an email.
White Rock RCMP and the White Rock Fire Department responded to the collision, which happened shortly after 1:30 p.m.
Fire Chief Phil Lemire said it's his understanding – by speaking to an RCMP officer on scene – that the driver meant to put the vehicle in reverse, "but instead, put it into drive and accelerated forward up onto the lawn into the railing. No injuries."
