A psychologist in the Delta School District is facing child pornography charges in the U.S. after hundreds of photos and videos were found at his Point Roberts home.
William (Bill) Brook was arrested crossing into Washington State last Wednesday (May 7) after U.S. police received information he might have bought child pornography online.
In a sworn deposition, Department of Homeland Security special agent Toby Ledgerwood said Brook's hands were shaking and he appeared "extremely nervous" during questioning.
“We noticed that Brook had a difficult time swallowing, which Brook told us was caused by ‘dry mouth due to medication'," said Ledgerwood.
Police then searched Brook's home in Point Roberts and found 334 suspected images of child pornography on one of two laptops, with the most recent download dated May 6, 2014.
According to court documents, there were also videos of young boys being sexually assaulted by adult men.
When Brook showed officers into his home, he allegedly told them, “I just want to erase the stuff.”
A search of a second laptop, which Brook identified as property of the Delta School District, revealed nothing illegal, police said.
The school district said it is aware of the charges against Brook, but could not comment further on his employment status for privacy reasons, only to say there are provisions under the School Act to suspend employees in such circumstances.
It's uncertain what school(s) Brook worked at or what age of students he dealt with, although until recently, he appeared on a staff list at Ladner Elementary.
Delta Police say they are investigating whether any criminal activity took place in Canada.
