SURREY — A police negotiator was called to a home in the 6900 block of Scott Road on Tuesday afternoon in Surrey to get what police described as a “disturbed man” to stand down.
Police suspected he had a gun, which resulted in a heavy police presence in the area during the start of afternoon rush hour traffic. No weapon was seized, though, and no one else was in the home.
Surrey RCMP say he was taken into custody under the Mental Health Act, bringing a safe end to a two-hour ordeal that began at 1:15 p.m. and saw Delta Police, Surrey Mounties and a heavily armed Emergency Response Team respond.
Police had cleared the scene by 3:45 p.m.
