Gunfire cracked through the early morning hours Wednesday as someone opened fire on a house in Guildford.

At about 12:30 a.m., Surrey RCMP received several 911 calls about shots fired in the 15700 block of 96A Avenue.

Police arrived to find several shell casings on the road and found a home that had been struck by bullets.

Police say there were people at home, though no one was injured.

Occupants of the house say they have no idea why the home was targeted, however, one person at the home was a 22-year-old Lower Mainland resident with a history of drug offences, police say.

Witnesses say they heard a vehicle take off down the street after the shots were fired.

Surrey Mounties are asking that anyone who may have witnessed this incident or observed a vehicle fleeing away from this area to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
