Southbound lanes on Highway 99 in Delta have been fully re-opened.

The road was shutdown for several hours on Tuesday – along with both directions on Highway 10 – after a truck slammed into the Ladner Trunk Road overpass above the highway.

The highway was re-opened after 9 p.m., as was eastbound traffic on Highway 10.

Mounties say they will be looking into the crash and the factors that caused it, and investigators will be speaking with the truck's company, Bestlink Transport in Surrey.

"Whether they had a permit, what the permit was, what was the size of the vehicle, where did they pick up the load, how they put the load on the vehicle and if there was any issue there," said Cpl. Robert McDonald (News1130). "Was this an honest mistake?"

The driver was not hurt in Tuesday's collision and Bestlink Transport owner Henry Schneider told CTV the driver had 20 years of experience.

Throughout the day – and during the already normally hectic rush hour period from 3 to 6 p.m. – drivers were being re-routed and, depending in their direction, were asked to either take Highway 17 to River Road and then Highway 91, or to follow Ladner Trunk Road eastbound.
