Chiara De Maere's insulin pump has been returned.

The 10-year-old went for a quick swim at the Surrey Sports and Leisure Complex on Thursday, Feb. 10, and inadvertently left her insulin pump in the change room.

The $7,000 device was taken from there, leaving Chiara to temporarily take injections for her Type 1 diabetes.

Medtronics, the company that makes the machine, provided a loaner temporarily, but on Friday, the staff at the recreation centre say it was returned.

Father John De Maere is pleased that it's been returned.

"I'm glad that if it was a kid, they saw the light and that it was no use to them," DeMaere said.
