Re: "More referees needed for high school games," the Now, Sept. 30.
In your paper appeared an article on the need for more basketball officials in Surrey, Delta and Langley. Your young reporter, Kyle Benning, interviewed me over coffee. He asked pertinent questions, recorded everything and wrote what, to me, was exactly what needed to be said. Kyle seems to have what it takes to grow in this field. Hopefully, he can stay with you as he grows stronger in the newspaper business.
Thank you for allowing the article; it produced over a dozen inquiries. If half of them actually officiate, it will be a tremendous help.
