A man was killed early Saturday in a fire in a camperized van.

On Feb. 25 just before 7 a.m., Surrey RCMP were advised that Surrey fire crews had extinguished a fire in a van in the 10500-block of Scott Road when they discovered a body inside.

The victim was identified as a 55-year-old male and a Surrey resident.

Fire investigators determined that the fire was accidental, caused by a short in a modified electrical system.

Attempts to notify the man’s next of kin are ongoing.
