Man in critical condition after crashing car into tree in South Surrey

SOUTH SURREY — The driver of a vehicle that lost control and smashed into a tree in South Surrey Sunday was airlifted to hospital in serious condition.

Around 10:45 a.m. police got word of an accident involving a grey Toyota Yaris that had been travelling on 8th Avenue near 192nd Street before it crashed.

The driver, in his 20s, was trapped in the vehicle. Surrey Fire Department and B.C. Ambulance attended the scene to free him.

On Monday morning, police said the man was in critical condition.

Police suspect speed and weather conditions were factors in the crash.
