Motorcyclist dead after colliding with SUV

Surrey man smashed into the passenger side of a Toyota RAV4 at 128 Street and 96 Avenue.

A motorcyclist is dead after a collision with an Toyota RAV4 this week.

On Tuesday, just after 3 p.m., a motorcycle was heading southbound on 128 Street near 96 Avenue when it struck the SUV, which was was negotiating a left turn on a yellow light.

Police believe the 30-year-old Surrey motorcyclist sped through the yellow light and smashed into the RAV4.

The collision caused the motorcyclist to be trapped under the sports utility vehicle. The 46-year-old Surrey woman who was driving the Toyota was uninjured and remained at the scene.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the accident.

The man who was riding the motorcycle was taken to hospital where he died.

Surrey RCMP is asking anyone that may have witnessed the collision or observed the Motorcycle or SUV prior to the collision to call the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
