Mounties dust off 1994 hit-and-run case

SURREY - Mounties have resurrected a 20-year-old Whalley pedestrian hit-and-run case.

Gurbax Thind, 60, of Surrey was killed on Feb. 5, 1994, in the 13400-block of 92nd Avenue.

A passing motorist spotted his body in a driveway. This was just before 9 p.m. The woman turned around, for a better look, and called 911 for help.

Cpl. Bert Paquet said a "subject of interest" was identified early on in the investigation but charges were never laid. Police determined from evidence at the scene that the vehicle involved in this hit-and-run was a grey 1987 GMC High Sierra 2500 pickup truck with red trim.

Paquet said investigators have been working tirelessly on this case over the years, to no avail.

Police ask anyone with information to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
