South Surrey-White Rock MP Dianne Watts is resting after breaking her ankle on the weekend.
Tuesday morning, Watts tweeted a picture of herself in a Peace Arch Hospital bed, thanking her surgeon and nursing staff in emergency and the operating daycare and recovery wards.
Legislative assistant Alla Drigola confirmed to Peace Arch News that Watts was injured on Sunday in her home riding and that she had surgery Monday.
“She was taking her dogs out Sunday morning and was going down the steps outside her home with flip-flops on her feet and had a fall,” Drigola said.
“She’s on the mend and, hopefully, will be back at it soon,” she added.
Watts was unavailable for comment Tuesday afternoon.
“You are amazing caregivers… the community is blessed to have you,” Watts tweeted about PAH staff.
