One dead after 2-vehicle crash in Surrey at Pattullo Bridge construction zone

One person is dead after a crash involving two vehicles in the area of Highway 17 and Old Yale Road in Whalley Friday (May 26), near the Pattullo Bridge construction site.

Police say the collision happened at around 12:30 p.m. First responders worked to save one person who succumbed to injuries at the scene. Two other people were transported to hospital.

As of 1:50 p.m. Highway 17 and Old Yale Road is closed in all directions as Surrey RCMP’s Criminal Collison Investigating Team (CCIT) and Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team (ICARS) investigate. The roads have been reopened.

“Police will be conducting a full investigation into the cause of the collision, including what role speed or other driving behaviours may have played in this collision,” stated Surrey RCMP Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha in a news release.
