A portion of 104th Avenue was closed in Surrey Monday night as firefighters battled a blaze.

Surrey Fire Service received a call about the fire, at the corner of 104th Avenue and 128th Street, just after 7 p.m.

“It was a structure fire in a house,” said Battalion Chief Andy George. “It was mostly in the attic. There was nobody home at the time so they made entry, went in and extinguished the fire.”

The blaze was “nothing of major significance,” he noted, but said street was shut down because crews were working on the roads.

The fire, said George, was put out “pretty quick.”
