Pedestrian killed in Whalley

SURREY — A pedestrian was killed in Whalley early Saturday morning while crossing at 108th Avenue and King George Highway against a red light.

Police have not released the man’s name. It happened at 3:20 a.m. He was pronounced dead at Royal Columbian Hospital.

The man driving the blue 2008 Kia Rio that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and is cooperating with police, Surrey RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann said.

Schumann said the driver had a green light. The crash is still under investigation.
