SURREY — Police are looking for a man who tried to force his way into a Whalley home on Friday afternoon and have released a composite sketch of his likeness.
A 15-year-old Whalley girl nearly fell victim to a "home invasion" on Friday afternoon after the man tried to force his way into her home in the 13300-block of Sutton Place. They struggled at the doorway and he took off in an older black car, possibly a Honda Civic, after she screamed for help. Surrey RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann said she wasn't injured "but obviously emotionally distraught."
"We do not believe this to be a random act and as a result have taken steps to ensure the victim's safety out of an abundance of caution," Schumann said.
The man is South Asian, 25 to 30 years old, about five feet eight inches tall and medium built with unkempt black hair. He was wearing a long-sleeved black jacket, blue jeans and sandals.
Meantime, police have yet to arrest suspects after a 36-year-old woman was robbed in her home, again in broad daylight, on Nov. 2nd after as many as seven people wearing masks barged in through her front door, in the 12600-block of 91st Avenue, and ransacked the place.
Police ask anyone with information about these crimes to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
