Reward for Golden Eagle

The 18-pound statue is worth an estimated up to $9 million

A $10

The owner of a golden eagle is offering a $10,000 reward for its return, and Delta police now say they are looking for a silver decoy model of the bird.

Owner Ron Shore said Thursday morning he is offering the reward for the return of the diamond-encrusted eagle that was assessed at $9 million, but he feels may be worth closer to $7 million.

Created by Kevin Peters, it is crafted from 18 karat white gold and 14 karat yellow gold.

It took in excess of 4,000 hours to create.

It weighs 8.2 kilograms (18 lbs).

On Sunday (May 29), at about 10 p.m., Delta police were called to a home in the 4700-block of 57 Street in Ladner.

One person suffered minor injuries in the robbery, was treated and released from hospital.

Police now believe the statues were stolen by two men.

The statue of a Maltese eagle was originally on showcase at the Vancouver Convention Centre, but was stolen from the Ladner home.

Police are asking who knows the whereabouts of the eagle to call 604-946-4411 or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
