SURREY — A Surrey man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a fight broke out between two groups in the city centre early Monday morning.

The victim, in his early 20s, sustained a gash to his chest during the fight, which happened at 3:20 a.m. at 108th Avenue and 132nd Street. Two men and a woman were arrested. They are also in their early 20s.

Surrey RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann said police believe the two groups were involved in an ongoing dispute. "We don't suspect gangs or drugs," he said.

"Serious crime officers will be canvassing the area for video surveillance and other witnesses."

Police ask anyone with information to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
