Surrey resident Alan Sevillo is taking his daughter to Disneyland after winning $2 million in the BC/49 lottery drawn June 5.

Sevillo bought his winning ticket at a London Drugs store on 66 Avenue in Langley, then checked the numbers at Surrey Central.

“My daughter needed something, and I remembered I had tickets I hadn’t checked," Sevillo said in a news release from BCLC Media Relations. "I scanned this [BC/49] ticket and saw all the zeroes. I showed the person working (at the lotto kiosk), he double checked and hugged me.”

Some of the cash will buy a second vehicle for Sevillo's family.

“My wife and I share a car and it can be challenging with our daughter’s school schedule," he said. "Another car will make our days simpler.”

So far in 2024, British Columbians have won more than $7 million in BC/49 prizes, according to BCLC. The twice-weekly lottery is held Wednesday and Saturday.
