Surrey hit and run suspect sought

SURREY — RCMP are asking for help looking for a suspect in a hit and run that took place in early January.

At about 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 5, a green Honda Accord driving westbound on Fraser Highway hit a grey Nissan Altima traveling southbound in the intersection of the highway and 140th Street.

The driver of the green Honda Accord took off after the collision, but the man who was his passenger was later found and gave police little information.

The driver of the Nissan Altima stayed at the scene and sustained minor injuries.

Later, police say the suspect went to a convenience store near where the crash occurred, and met with an unknown woman who had just come into the store before him.

The man is described as a Caucasian male, about six-feet tall and heavy set, wearing dark pants, a dark jacket and a white hoodie, with black and white sneakers. He is also believed to be missing a part of his left ear.

“We believe that the suspect driver in this collision is involved in other ongoing criminal activity,” said Cpl. Bert Paquet in a press release.

“As such we are hopeful that the public can help us make a positive identification and prevent any future criminality.”

Anyone with further information is asked to contact Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-TIPS or Solvecrime.ca.
