SURREY — A Surrey man is dead after a camper fire Saturday morning.

Fire crews had extinguished the fire in the 10500-block of Scott Road when Surrey RCMP arrived and found the body of a 55-year-old Surrey man who had been sleeping in the camperized van, said a police news release.

Fire investigators determined the fire was caused by a short in the camper’s electrical system, which had been modified. The coroner’s office is investigating.
