Two abandoned houses set on fire on Surrey development property Saturday

SURREY — Police are investigating two suspicious fires set at abandoned houses in Surrey.

Shortly before 6 a.m. Saturday firefighters were called to what initially appeared to be a fire in a townhouse complex in the 12100-block 66th Avenue. When they arrived, they found the fire was at an abandoned single-family home on a development property.

A smouldering fire was also found inside another boarded-up house across the street, on the same development property.

Both fires were extinguished. One home suffered extensive damage and will have to be demolished, while the other had minimal damage.

No one was injured.
