Delta Police have arrested a 17-year-old male suspect on murder charges following a fatal stabbing Friday night at Tsawwassen First Nation that left one teenage girl dead and another in critical condition.

Delta Police responded to a report of a stabbing at 10:10 p.m. on Feb. 15, and located two teenage girls who were suffering from stab wounds lying on the ground.

Both victims were treated at the scene by paramedics and fire personnel, and were subsequently rushed to local hospital.

As a result of the incident, a 16-year-old female victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital and the second victim, a 15-year-old female is currently in critical condition.

Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Branch and the Forensic Identification Section have been on scene throughout the night, and took a suspect into custody Saturday morning.
