A North Delta elementary school is closed to students until at least Wednesday (April 16) after what appears to be a suspicious fire.
Just after 2 a.m. Monday, crews responded to a blaze at Heath Traditional Elementary school at 113 Street and 72 Avenue.
The fire was doused quickly, but not before one classroom was completely gutted. There's also a lot of smoke and water damage to the rest of the school. No one was hurt.
The school district says classes will resume Wednesday for Grades 1 to 7, but that kindergarten classes won't re-open until Thursday (April 17) due to "difficulties re-assembling" the kindergarten classroom.
Investigators are classifying the fire as suspicious, but are not sure whether the blaze was started inside our outside the building.
Heath Traditional has 232 students.
