SURREY — A dead man found in Whalley’s Bog Park appears to have been shot, homicide investigators say.
This is Surrey’s fourth homicide this year. Police have identified the victim as Brendan Aditya Chand, 27, of Surrey.
Staff Sergeant Jennifer Pound, spokeswoman for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, said police received reports of gunshots being heard in the area of the park, at 9740 130th Street, at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
Chand’s body was found just before 2 p.m. Sunday.
This would be Surrey’s 43rd confirmed shooting so far this year although there have been others where police have not notified the public.
“IHIT has taken conduct of this investigation and the scene will be cordoned off for the duration of the day to continue with evidence collection and scene processing,” Pound said.
Police are asking anyone with information about this homicide to call the IHIT tip line at 1-877-551-4448.
