Updated: Victim ID'd and suspect charged in White Rock murder

WHITE ROCK — Jeffrey Caille, 22, has been charged with second-degree murder, two counts of assault and one count of assault causing bodily harm following an incident Sunday in White Rock that left 61-year-old Bruce Alexander Ridout dead.

According to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, White Rock RCMP attended a home in the 900-block of Ash Street just after 7 p.m. Sunday following several 911 calls about a dispute in progress.

Police then arrived on scene to find two injured females and an injured male inside the home. The two females were transported to hospital while Ridout was pronounced dead at the scene.The female victims were treated for their injuries and later released.

IHIT said Caille was seen throwing objects and knives off the balcony of the home before fleeing on foot and was later apprehended by RCMP.

“There were several witnesses in the area at the time of this occurrence and IHIT is asking witnesses, who haven’t spoken with police to come forward with information,” said Staff Sgt. Jennifer Pound.

Caille remains in custody and is expected to appear in court later today. An autopsy for Ridout is also planned for later today.
