A single vehicle collision with a utility pole has resulted in the closure of 208th Street between 72nd and 76th Avenues in Langley Saturday morning, March 23.

Around 1:20 a.m., Langley RCMP responded to reports of a car crash involving one vehicle into a utility pole in the 7600-block of 208th Street, said Cpl. Zynal Sharoom.

The driver was a woman in her 30s and was uninjured.

“Investigation determined that the driver of the vehicle was impaired by alcohol,” Sharoom said.

The driver was served a 90-day prohibition from driving, and her vehicle is impounded for 30 days.

Police advised that the road be closed due to the damage of the utility pole while its replaced.

Construction crews arrived at about 3 a.m. and assisted police with towing the vehicle before removing the damaged pole, a construction worker on site told the Langley Advance Times.

The road is expected to open in a few hours, but police are asking drivers to use alternate routes.

Anyone who has information regarding this collision or witnessed this incident is asked to contact the Langley RCMP at 604 532-3200 and quote file 2024-8932.
