VIDEO: Surrey pedestrian dead after possible hit-and-run

RCMP have seized broken glass, pieces of automobile from the scene.

A pedestrian has died after a reported hit-and-run in Surrey early Tuesday morning.

Police have not released the victim’s name.

Surrey RCMP say that they responded to the call, near 143 Street and 92 Avenue at about 7:20 a.m.

“A man had been found by a passerby on the road unconscious with head injuries,” Corporal Scotty Schumann said. “No one had witnessed what led to the man’s injuries and it wasn’t readily apparent what had transpired or how long he had been injured. The man was taken to hospital where he later died.”

Schumann said the Surrey RCMP’s Criminal Collission Investigation Team is conducting the investigation and a “thorough examination” at the scene, with help from the Integrated Collision and Reconstruction Service (ICARS), turned up fragments of glass “and pieces of a vehicle suspected to have been involved.”

Meantime, police are seeking out witnesses and surveillance video.

RCMP say that no witnesses have come forward and are looking for anyone who may have more information to call the detachment at 604-599-0502.
