Five men were arrested in Burnaby Wednesday afternoon after a robbery, thanks to North Vancouver Mounties who were investigating an unrelated case when they noticed a suspicious vehicle near the business complex at 3430 Brighton Ave.

At about 1:45 p.m. on April 20, the North Vancouver officers were in the middle of coordinating with Burnaby RCMP to stop the vehicle in traffic when the suspects robbed a businesses right in front of them.

They arrested the five suspects, of whom two are known to Burnaby RCMP and have been charged in an unrelated violent crime.

No one was injured and a replica handgun was seized.

“Police work is dynamic and unfolds quickly and the quick response of members from both detachments resulted in the arrest of all five suspects," said Burnaby RCMP Cpl. Brenda Gresiuk. "These types of calls are what members train for and they couldn’t be happier with the outcome.”
