GILL; Bhagwant Singh

August 24, 1926 - July 12, 2016

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing away of our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather. Bhagwant Ji will be deeply missed by his children Tejinder (Teji) daughter-in-law Beevan, Manvinder (Rani) son-in-law Surjit, and Harpal (Pali) son-in-law Nash.

He was a loving mentor to his grandchildren Bobby, Jeffrey, Sameer, Crystal, Paul and Milly. He was cherished by his great-grandchildren Ashton, Jayden, Reyshum Naveen and Rohan. He is also survived by loving relatives and friends throughout Canada, USA, UK, Australia and India. Bhagwant Ji had a remarkable professional career spanning 3 continents. After emigrating from Kenya in 1972, he worked for Lafarge Construction throughout Alberta for a number of years as an engineering technician until his retirement. His love of story telling and quick wit will be dearly missed by everyone around him. His legacy as a proud, devoted family man will never be forgotten. May his soul rest in peace as he is reunited with his predeceased wife, Mohinder Kaur Gill.

May you always walk in sunshine and Gods around you flow,

for the happiness you gave us, no one will never know.

It broke our hearts to lose you but you did not go alone,

a part of us went with you.

If love could only have saved you, you never would have left us.

May the Lord be with you and may you rest in peace.

Funeral Service was held at Calgary Crematorium & Funeral Services (3219 4 Street NW) on Sunday, July 17th at 2:00pm. Following the funeral we welcomed everyone to celebrate Bhagwant Ji's life at Sikh Society Gurdwara (739 81 Street SW).
