James (Jim) JR Cox 71 of Surrey, BC passed away peacefully in Surrey Memorial Hospital on March 9th, 2023 with his partner and sons by his side. Jim was born in Worthing, England, United Kingdom on September 14th, 1951. He immigrated with his family at age four, sailing from the UK and landing in Montreal, QB Canada on July 24th 1956.
As a young man Jim settled in Surrey and worked various jobs at Robar Industries Ltd. until his retirement 46 years later in 2020. He was nominated and served as Union Representative for a time, and was a member of the Steelworkers Union.
Jim enjoyed the outdoors, hiking and climbing many trails and mountains with his best friend Gary Misson. He loved watching and participating in downhill mountain biking and often rode the "Sugar Bowl" and Whistler Bike Park.
Jim passed his love and knowledge of computers to his son, Aaron and created programs for local businesses. He would often fix his friends' machines and in return received a home cooked meal.
Jim is survived and will be forever missed by his life partner Jessica Woods, son Craig Yee, grandchildren Dallas and Robert Murphy, son Aaron (Erin) Cox, daughter Jeni Birch, brothers Alan (Talis) Cox and Peter Cox, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Esme and James Cox, brother Brian Cox and sister Fran Lang.
