An officer’s good influence

I would like to say a heartfelt congratulations to all of the winners of the ninth-annual Community Leaders Awards, especially RCMP Cpl. Norm Massie.

I was a very young girl in the early ’80s at Royal Heights Elementary when I first met him. He was friendly and positive and everyone loved when he visited. He helped us to see that the RCMP weren’t there to be feared but respected, which has a far greater impact.

When I entered Grade 8 at L.A. Matheson, it was a great comfort to know that he was our liaison officer. I feel that he was a positive influence in my life and this award is well deserved.

Congratulations again and thank you to all the winners for making my home a better place.
