Bridging gap

Surrey - The Editor, Replacing the Pattullo Bridge should really be an opportunity to resolve the traffic problems on both New Westminster and Surrey sides of the bridge.

What we need is a simple, toll-free connector bridge that manages traffic flow by directing the traffic onto the bridge and off while reducing congestion. We can have two lanes of traffic landing on Columbia Street, directing the traffic to the Trans-Canada Highway and North Burnaby with only one lane landing on McBride. We can then have one lane on McBride going on the bridge into Surrey. From the Surrey side, we have two lanes going onto the bridge from King George and one lane from Scott Road and the South Fraser Perimeter Road and also have two lanes coming down on King George and one lane being directed right onto Scott Road and the South Fraser Perimeter Rd.So we would have a total of six lanes with four lanes landing on King George and McBride. This proposal should address concerns from both sides of the span.Imtiaz PopatSurrey
