LETTER: Plague of graffiti is infecting Surrey’s neighbourhoods

Clean your own fence and contact city about the rest – the longer you leave it the faster it spreads

The Editor,

I recently did a little time travel via Google Street View.

A decade ago, the neighbourhood was strikingly different – but not because we now have any new high-rises, big box stores or parking lots. The same family homes and low-rise condos are still bounded by a park, a mall and city streets and the area still centres around an elementary school.

But today, a plague of graffiti defaces power boxes, mailboxes, lamp posts, fences and more. In recent weeks, the tags have multiplied faster than ever.

Fellow Surreyites – is your neighbourhood infected with this plague? Clean up your own fences. Contact the city about the rest. The longer you leave it the faster it spreads.
