Pit bulls' owner: Take full responsibility

Dogs should be destroyed after elderly neighbour attacked.

I am a neighbour of the 91-year-old woman and her 12-year-old dog who were viciously attacked by two pit bulls on Sunday, May 27.

This was an unprovoked attack. My neighbour and her dog were returning home from a walk in the neighbourhood and had almost reached the entrance gate of the strata complex where we live, when they were charged at and attacked by the pit bulls.

The handler of the two pit bulls was unable to keep control of them which resulted in the attack on my neighbour and her dog.

If the owner(s) of the pit bulls have not already done so, I urge them to take full responsibility for their dogs’ actions and contact Surrey’s animal control office at 604-598-5892 to arrange to have the two pit bulls destroyed.

If the owner(s) refuse to take this action, then I urge the animal control officer who attended on Sunday to apprehend the two pit bulls and have them destroyed.

In addition, the owner(s) owe it to my neighbour to pay for all of the veterinarian and medical expenses she has incurred as a result of the attack, as well as an apology.
