I would like to publicly thank Anthony Hope and Michaela Milne for their presentation on Thursday, June 21 at the Surrey Board of Education meeting. These two students demonstrated leadership beyond their age. Their presentation was articulate and very compelling on the issue of our district developing an anti-homophobia policy.
It takes courage to stand in public and ask for something that may not be accepted by all and I congratulate them for presenting their concerns in such a professional and meaningful way.
These students are two of many in our school district who demonstrate leadership and passion for their beliefs on a daily basis. We are very fortunate in Surrey to have students who step forward to make a difference in the many facets of their school community and beyond.
