Tax debate a waste of time

The HST/PST debate has been an interesting waste of time. Regardless of what we call it, the government needs the revenue.

We continually hear of under-funded schools, transit, hospitals, the childrens’ advocate and a host of other services we are told we ask for.

All the services we request cost money and a return to the PST won’t change that fact. The government is able adjust the PST. Perhaps to tax all items like the HST, they could drop it to five per cent and even enter into an agreement with with the feds to collect it.

Wait for the next election, nothing will change. A yes vote doesn’t commit the province to not adapting the PST. Vander Zalm and friends just huffed and puffed and wasted a whole bunch of money for nothing.
