A 19-point second quarter lifted the Seaquam Seahawks to a 47-21 win over the Senior AAA Kelowna Owls in a B.C. Secondary Schools Football Association preseason contest Friday night in Kelowna.

Seaquam, which will begin play in the Senior AA Southern Conference next month, led 7-0 after one quarter of play and 26-7 at half time.

Seahawks quarterback Tyler Green completed 10 of 15 pass attempts for 137 yards, including a 37-yard scoring pass to Jarren Ralf. Green also rushed for 52 yards and a pair of major scores.

Mark Lego ran for 79 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Taylor Northway was the top receiver with six catches for 55 yards.

Linemen Chris Hoegler, Cam Laidlaw, Mark Anglin, Tyler Massicotte and Martin Minkov were effective on both sides of the ball, with Hoegler leading the defence with five tackles.

Jay Singh and Jordan Quitzau took advantage of a pair of Kelowna turnovers on special, teams, converting each into a major score for North Delta.

The Seahawks host their first game of the season Saturday against the visiting West Vancouver Highlanders at 1:30 p.m. at Seaquam Secondary.

In other high school football preseason play, the Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers defeated the Holy Cross Crusaders 35-6 in Cloverdale last Friday afternoon.

The Panthers will play in Cascades, Washington tomorrow (Friday), while the Crusaders will host the St. Thomas More Knights at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Cross High School.
