The Frank Hurt Hornets scored 26 unanswered points in the season half to defeat the Eric Hamber Griffins 44-8 in a B.C. High School football Association exhibition game Friday.

The Hornets led 18-8 at half time, with Bashiru Side-Odaa rushing for 150 yards and all three touchdowns.

Quarterback Devous Hallums led the scoring in the second half, returning a kickoff 80 yards for one major score, running 70 yards for another, then tossed a 45-yard pass for Jonaus Levac for the third. Levac took over as quarterback, adding another score on a 50-yard run.

The defense was led by two interceptions each from Rahshon Loobie and  Matt Green. Lineman Bao Nguyen and linebacker Alex Apaico had two quarterback sacks each.

The Hornets host the E.J. Milne of Sooke Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

n The Seaquam Seahawks fell 26-24 to the Handsworth Royals in a Junior high school game last Wednesday (Sept. 12).

Robert Hodgins rushed for more than 100 yards and a touchdown, adding a second major on a 40-yard interception return. He also scored a pair of two-point converts.

Austin Blum caught a 60-yard touchdown pass, and Anojan Crush added a two-point convert to compete the scoring. Nick Hutchinson played a strong two-way game for the Seahawks, who will be in Victoria to face the Mt. Douglas Rams Saturday afternoon.
