Longhorns pair to play in Red River Cup

Team BC selected for under-16 football tournament in Winnipeg

Two members of the North Delta Longhorns are among the 40 players selected by Football BC to play in the 2013 Red River Cup July 6-13 at Investors Group Field in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Tyler Moxin, a punter/kicker, and receiver Taylor Pencer will be on Team BC which will compete at the under-16 tournament, which features teams from North Saskatchewan, South Saskatchewan, Winnipeg East and Winnipeg West.

Team BC’s roster is comprised of seven defensive backs, six defensive linemen, seven offensive linemen, six linebackers, six receivers, four running backs, three quarterbacks and one kicker/punter.

Of the 40 players named, 11 played this past season either primarily with or partially with a BC Community Football Association team while 31 of the players were involved with a high school team.

“We are very pleased with the level of competition and improvement through the evaluation process,” said U-16 Team BC head coach, defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Sean Roden.

“We believe that the combination of hungry and spirited players that have been selected to be part of U-16 Team BC, along with our accomplished coaching staff, position us well for success.”
