SURREY — The design of Surrey’s two new arenas will be revealed at a pair of open house events this week, starting tonight (Tuesday) in Cloverdale.
Drawings of the “Sport & Ice Complex” facilities have been obtained by the Now-Leader.
The new arena in Cloverdale will include two sheets of ice, or floors, on recently cleared land at Cloverdale Fairgrounds, south of 64th Avenue and just east of 177B Street, while a similar facility in North Surrey will feature three sheets of ice, or floors, at 12780 110th Avenue, south of Scott Road Skytrain station and the Home Depot store.

Completion of the Cloverdale facility is estimated for spring 2019, while the North Surrey building should be built by summer 2019.
The $35-million Cloverdale facility, designed in partnership with Taylor Kurtz Architecture + Design Inc. and Rounthwaite Dick and Hadley Architects Inc., will be the subject of an open house tonight (Tuesday, June 6) at Cloverdale Recreation Centre, 6188 176th St., from 6 to 8 p.m.
“Join us and see conceptual design boards that will be displayed throughout the lobby,” says an event advisory on the city’s website. “City staff and the architectural team will be available to answer your questions. There will also be an opportunity to provide feedback in writing to the team as well.”
An open house to showcase the $52-million North Surrey complex, designed in partnership with Francl Architecture and the Lark Group, will be held on Wednesday, June 7 at Bridgeview Community Centre, 11475 126A St., from 6 to 8 p.m.
