What if doing just one thing could help reduce your risk of cancer?

That's the question the Canadian Cancer Society wants you to ask yourself this year. About half of all cancers are preventable, and changing your lifestyle in just one way can make a huge difference.

Studies have shown that things as simple as eating more vegetables and getting regular medical checkups can reduce your risk of dying from cancer in your lifetime.

We encourage you to post your One Thing in the comments, and visit the Canadian Cancer Society's website at www.cancergameplan.ca for more information about cancer, prevention and tips on deciding what changes you can make in your life.

Among the posts on the Canadian Cancer Society's website for participants' One Thing include quitting smoking, getting regular exercise, drinking more water, taking time to relax and cutting down on coffee.

Some other ideas are making exercise a family affair, staying out of the sun, cutting down on alcohol and eating organic foods.
